Any piece of metal which are grounded will absorb radio waves. In electronic devices, this is called shielding. You will observe that some high quality transparent usb cable or network cable has a thin film of metal covering it. Now try calling your phone. I haven't tried it, but if the microwave is blocked, the phone will not ring. You can add more layers if you fail the first try. Remember, if the shield is not grounded it will not work. This is also one of the reasons why walkie talkies have limited range when used inside a car.
