In 1970, Robert A. Monroe filed U.S. patent U.S. Patent 3884218 "Method of Inducing and Maintaining Stages Of Sleep in the Human Being", which uses pre-recorded EEG (brain) wave forms to make a person sleep. This later evolved into Brainwave Frequency Following Response (FFR). The Sleep Device patent was issued in 1975. The use of audio generators to induce sleep had already been proven and patented, read the pdf of the patent for the citations.
Today we know that this technology to make a person sleep can also be applied via Microwave broadcast of the FFR signals. It can also be coupled with Silent Sound, U.S. Patent 5159703, which was applied for in 1989 and granted in 1992.
In 1991 Monroe filed a patent (U.S. Patent 5356368) for an improved method of altering human minds using EEG waveforms and Frequency Following Response, "Method Of and Apparatus For Inducing Desired States Of Consciousness". Pre-recorded EEG waveforms of various states of consciousness are superimposed on target human mind via broadcast FFR signals.
