I've now read the article about 'body swapping' and re-watched the video! WOW It is really very simple. viewing the world from the 1st person perspective (i.e though the eyes -another reference to the eyes lol), and stimulating another body (similar to the originals body) synchronously at the same time, and motion gives the feeling of identifying with another body as your own! I knew it! It didn't fully make sense to me how Don could be asleep in his bed and then wake up as a clone version of himself, because everything which makes him, "him" remains intact while he sleeps. The only thing is during REM sleep, electric activity on an EEG still shows that the person is awake although their body is completely non responsive. During REM sleep muscle tone goes to zero -and the body does not move /hardly moves (perfect time for consciousness transfer). And from what we know from the 'body swapping' article and lecture - if an individual can perceive another body similar to their own from the 1st person perspective (i.e. see visually through the eyes, and view another body from the 1st perspective) AND at the same time stimulus is applied to the other body synchronously, where this allows the individual to perceive sensory information about the state of another body, then the original will begin to perceive the other body as that of its own. In this case, a clone body. So from the article and the lecture, it totally makes sense, because during REM sleep the whole body shuts down and therefore it is possible the REM clones are stimulated when the original reaches REM phase (remember the original's electrical activity still shows signs that they are awake...) and once the REM clone opens his/her eyes - the continuous match between the visual and the somatosensory (relating to perception of sensory stimuli from the skin and internal organs) information about the state of the body from the first person perspective, as well as the synchronous stimulation, AND the fact that person is now localised in a body similar to their own, this enables the person to experience the world in another body different from their original. The fact that this is a perceptual illusion, makes little difference, as the experience feels "real as REAL" for the person localised in a body which is not the original. Furthermore, the fact that the 1st person perspective, is so crucial to 'body swapping/consciousness transfer' explains why an REM clone drops limp. Don, the original/anchor.... his 1st person perspective becomes localised back to his original body and overrides REM clone body when he begins to wake up, because now he starts to see the world from his original body. He no longer perceives his clone body as his body from a 1st person perspective. The perceptual illusion is over and the clone drops limp Now, this leaves the question: how does Don move his limbs -because from the article - just because it is possible to make a person perceive a different body as that of their own, it does not explain how we can move the other body once we perceive it as our own, although it does allude to the fact that tele-robotics, tele-operation and tele-presence may be the answer. Well that is consciousness transfer licked! Does Don know how he moves his clones limbs? I ask because from the lecture and article, just because his consciousness is localised into a clone body does not full explain how he is capable of moving his limbs. This was not full part of the research, although I'm sure it is easily explained by how we move our original body's limbs -and once we move over to a different body if matching signals are sent/electrical impulses -we can now move a different body... The match between the two "convinces" the brain, -hey I'm no longer in this body, I'm in that one, or I have a third arm (although it is a false limp)---I'm floating out of my body -- the best demonstration is when he took a hammer and hit empty space (where the participant) believed he or she was sitting -and they had a fear response -because their sight and sensory perception had been stimulated to perceive they are sitting 3-4 meters behind where they were physically located. So yep "Perception is reality" ---I think that is another similar 'love and light/raise your vibration' phrase that the illuminuts throw at us right? Another good example was when they used a doll (about 1 ft tall) -and because the measurements were proportional -the participant believed that 'they lived in a "giant world" So sight and stimulus is a feedback loop -when the two are present -BAM consciousness transfer. Reality altered. You will get it, and when you do be like "wow" -pretty amazing, and if that is the case it can be used for many wonderful things (and not clone torture." Merging the two allows the transhumanists to live on after death through technology, the biological functions of a clone circumvents the need to create extra functions for the robot so that when one dies and does live on after death through technology they can still enjoy the same sensations as they previously did as an original human. Essentially choosing to live on after death through transhumanist technology, is choosing to live on as a humanly possible.
