Aqua Teen Hunger Force; "Hypno-Germs"
(A show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim)
This episode shows Shake, the white cup, becoming infected with "Hypno-Germs" - little parasites that overtake their hosts' brain. They use mind control methods to create hallucinations, make their host do crazy things, and to try and convince the host to commit suicide.
One thing I found interesting is while they were explaining these parasites they said that they have two goals: Mind control and to be in plays. The characters seemed surprised to learn this, and it was explained that they love acting and being on stage second only to controlling/killing humans.
Sounds a whole lot like Vrill and their obsession with the entertainment industry to me.
And to add insult to injury, the Hypno-Germ princess (who was against the germs and sympathized with humans, much to her family's dismay. She was the only germ that thought what the germs were doing was wrong) was named Donna. -__-
ETA: Notice how he is shown wearing a tin hat with tin foil underneath (with black goo oozing from his eye,covering his body). Prior to this scene he was shown wandering the streets muttering to himself. The message here is: you will be seen as crazy/insane/mentally ill (even though we, the viewers, know he *is* actually droned and *not* just going off the deep-end). He appears as nothing more than a conspiracy theorist, a tinfoil hat wear-er...
This also means that he recognized what was happening and was not OK with it... he must have realized he had "bugs" in his head trying to control him, or he would never have tried to "protect" himself from their thoughts with the tin hat etc to begin with..
